About Me

Hi, I’m Sarah — the person behind Simple Website Development & Support.

I’m a UK-based Squarespace website designer specialising in simple, professional websites for small businesses, trades, consultants and service providers who want a clear online presence without stress, jargon, or unnecessary complexity.

Alongside this business, I run and manage several real companies, so I understand first-hand how important a well-built website is for visibility, enquiries, and trust.

I didn’t come from an agency background.

I learned website building, SEO, and online structure by building and growing my own businesses from the ground up — learning what actually works along the way.

That means everything I offer here is practical, tested, and based on real results.

Business background & real-world experience

Before launching Simple Website Development & Support, I spent over a decade running and managing businesses myself.

My background includes 16 years in sales coaching and management roles at Lloyds Banking Group, along with 12 years as a police investigator, and building a successful high street jewellery brand, where I ran the shop and designed and created all the products myself. All of these roles involved understanding how businesses operate, communicate clearly, and build trust with customers.

Later, I built my own ecommerce website on Squarespace — Elkadiri Mini Farm & Pet Boutique — integrating it with Printify and running a pet clothing brand alongside our smallholding. We grew our Facebook, Instagram and TikTok profiles to over 5,000 followers, and some of those accounts are still active today.

Alongside this, creativity has always been part of my life. I have a background in art and design, and over the years I built several of my own online businesses, designing the websites, managing the content, and growing their online presence myself. That experience taught me far more than any course ever could — from website structure and product integration to branding, content creation and organic growth.

Through this experience, I learned how websites actually work in the real world — not just how they look.

I learned how structure affects visibility, how clear messaging builds trust, and how a well-built website becomes a genuine part of a business, not just something that sits online.

All of the businesses I created were built and run by me alone, and that experience shaped how I approach websites today — focusing on clarity, trust and practical results rather than design trends.

Through building and managing my own businesses, I naturally specialised in Squarespace website design, SEO structure, and helping small businesses build a clear and effective online presence.

If you search for Elkadiri Mini Farm online today, you can still find our social media pages with thousands of followers. Although the business itself has now closed, we still enjoy sharing the joy of our smallholding life.

Because I know how confusing websites and online marketing can feel for many business owners, I also created the Blogs for Small Businesses section of this website. These articles share practical guidance about websites, SEO, Google Business Profiles, and building an online presence — written in plain English, based on real experience.

As a UK Squarespace website designer for small businesses, my goal is always simple: to help businesses build websites that are clear, professional, and capable of bringing real enquiries.

Every website I build is influenced by real business experience — not theory.

From smallholding to specialist service business

When we later made the decision to set up a new family business, Green Fields Home Kill & Butchery, everything I had learned came into full use.

My husband is a licensed slaughterman, and I created and now manage the entire online presence for the business, including the full Squarespace website build, SEO structure, blog content, and social media strategy.

My role includes:

We now receive consistent enquiries through Google search, and our website regularly ranks for specialist service keywords.

  • SEO-focused Squarespace builds

Why I created this service

While building and managing my own sites, I kept seeing the same problems again and again:

  • Small businesses paying a lot for websites they couldn’t update

  • Confusing setups with ongoing fees they didn’t understand

  • Beautiful designs that never showed up on Google

  • No support once the site was handed over

  • Most businesses don’t need complex systems or expensive marketing packages.

They need:

  • ✔ A professional looking website

  • ✔ A clean, logical structure

  • ✔ Strong SEO foundations

  • ✔ Something they understand and control

That’s exactly what I build.

I don’t just build beautiful websites. I build customers.

Everything I build is based on real experience running and growing my own businesses online — not theory, trends, or agency jargon.

That’s why my focus is always on:

• Structure before design

• Clarity before decoration

• Results before features

Because for small businesses, your website isn’t a portfolio piece.

It’s a working part of your business.

Blogs for Small Businesses

Alongside designing websites for small businesses, I also write practical guides to help business owners better understand how their websites work and how to improve their online presence.

These blogs are based on real experience from building and managing my own businesses, as well as creating websites for other small business owners. I share clear, practical advice about topics such as website structure, SEO foundations, Google Business Profiles, and the common issues that stop websites from appearing in search results.

Everything is written in plain English and designed to help small business owners feel more confident about managing their website and understanding what actually helps a website get found online.
